The Royal Castle in Warsaw
The Royal Castle is located at the Plac Zamkowy which
is the entrance of the Old Town. It is the royal palace and official residence
of the Polish monarchs.
Until the partitions of Poland, it was the private
offices of the king and also the administrative offices of the Royal Court of
Poland. Between 1926 and World War II the palace was for the Polish president.
It was heavily destroyed by German invasion during the Warsaw Uprising. The
remnants were blasted in 1944 and were kept until 1971. They started the
reconstructions in early 1970s and the clock of the tower began working from
the exact time of which stopped by the Luftwaffe bombardment. Nowadays they use
as a branch of the National Museum and for some occasional ceremony.
