The Holy Cross Church is one of the most notable
baroque churches in Poland and a Roman Catholic place of worship.
This twin
towered church is located in the centre of Warsaw , on Krakowskie Przedmiescie,
opposite side of the main campus, the University of
Warsaw . It is well-known and worth visiting place for the tourists
that the heart of Frederic Chopin is buried in one of the chapels, the first
pillar on the left side of the nave. It is according to his wishes as young Chopin used to play the organ and loved this church.
During the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, the
church was severly damaged and blown up by the Germans, however, it had been
rebuilt and reconstructed for many years.
