You can see the monument of Warsaw Uprising close
to Castle Square. It is established and dedicated to those who fought and lost
their lives during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944.
The Uprising started on 1st
of August and it lasted for 63days until 2nd of October. The Polish
Home Army struggled to liberate the City and halt the destruction of their city
by the retreating Nazis. More than 225,000 civilians lost their lives and
around 20,000 people from Polish Army died. The monument has two parts, the
insurgents defending a barricade and the soldiers.
