Poznan

Poznan is the 5th biggest city, situated in the west side of Poland. It is one of the oldest and an important historical centre and it is well known as vibrant centre of trade, industry and education.

Poznan and Gniezno used to be the first Polish capitals in the 10th century, which are linked by the tourist trail, called the Piast Route. Today it is the venue for the International Trade Fair, and an important European business centre. The Poznan International Fair is the largest centre of international trade in Poland, where trade fairs, exhibitions and shows take place.


City Sightseeing

Old Square in Poznan You can start from the Plac Wolnosci, where the National Museum and the Raczynski Library are situated. In Old Town Market Square (Stary Rynek), you find full of historic town houses and mansions and the most distinctive landmarks, 13-14th century Town Hall. It is reputably the most important Renaissance piece in Poland. You can see the exhibition of musical instruments in one of the houses, Dom Pod Bialym Orlem. The oldest part of the city, Ostrow Tumski (Cathedral Island), is located on the right bank of the Warta River, and it contains the 10th- century Cathedral, the 14th century Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Bishop's Palace and the Lubranski College (1512), which now houses the Archdiocesan Museum. You can go to one day excursions from Poznan to Gniezno and Kornik.
